Rescuers rush to save beached pilot whales - BBC News
Around 100 pilot whales have beached themselves near the Sri Lankan capital Colombo. Navy personnel and local volunteers have rushed to rescue them, but pushing the animals back into the ocean has been difficult as many get washed up again. It's not clear why whales get stranded but it's not uncommon. In September, hundreds of whales died on an Australian beach, in one of the largest strandings on record.
